Here’s a glimpse of our 60 day challenging, but so worth it process of redesigning a Colonial style home in Owings, just outside of Chesapeake Beach. This bank-owned home hit the market exactly 1 year ago and as soon as I saw it pop up on the MLS, I watched it daily and pursued it diligently. Unfortunately, it was a messy new auction process, but I stayed determined to get the home. I saw its potential. After several months of “bidding & bargaining” to get the best deal possible… it. was. ours.
My first vision was a “modern historical Colonial theme” with a welcoming bright red door, black shutters, lots of wood trim, metal grey roof, stunning wrap around porch, & timeless kitchen, but my plan took a quick slightly different turn. I had been working with a Buyer client for several months when she hopelessly communicated to me one day while touring homes that she just couldn’t find or “feel” any home that met her desires for her and her 2 young boys. I had her meet me out at this abandoned and distressed home one evening to tell her about the house and the plan I was pursuing for it. She immediately fell in love.
After several meetings of planning the design together, we decided on an “Industrial Colonial Style” to match her current decor that she would be bringing over from her current home into this new home upon its completion (yes, sorry, folks, it was a “pre-sold” design.) I must say, this is the most fabulous kitchen we have ever designed from the antique white cabinets & grey pedestal kitchen island to the gleaming subway tile backsplash and glass bronze knobs. Check out the vintage encased tin tile decor on the kitchen ceiling. The industrial pulley island lights compliment the high end cooktop beautifully.
And, from the open concept dining/family/kitchen rooms to the finished attic space, improved basement, and artsy music room….this home, my friends, makes MY heart skip a beat. Take a 2 minute peek of this video for yourself…
